7/1/2018 - Home 2015, More Trees, Fun Times, Wet Missionaries

The kids sent us this picture June 30, 2015 when we were in Russia.  We do enjoy serving and are so very grateful to be here.  This reminds us that home and eternal family are the
proverbial  pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
It rains at least once a day now, sometimes two and the rain is a hard rain.  I think we mentioned before that now we understand "the rain came down in sheets."
This palm tree is just as we pull out of our garage ..
The roads going in are lined with many trees.  Now that we have had so much rain, it looks like the leaves are growing out of the tree, but it is a vine that climbs and eventually almost covers the tree trunk and limbs, so everything is leaves. It is lush and beautiful.

The white and dark pink crapemyrtle

This is for all of you with a ping pong table -- they split it into six areas, each one guarded by a missionary.  The goal of the game is to not let the ping pong ball go off your guarded space.  This is P-Day by the way and the missionaries are gathered at our building.
Can you see how soaked these two really are?  This is their week for the bikes (they trade the car off with another set of elders) and they were part way to the Institute building when it hit, and it comes in full force.   The water is beaded in their hair and you could hear water sloshing in their shoes when they walked down the hall.  Elder Waite took them home so they could change and then took them to their next appointment which was at Santa Fe College.
We have always liked this, growing up we called it EEE - Enduring the Eternal Everydays.

This time through the Book of Mormon I have been using the Institute Manual - Teaching and Doctrine of the Book of Mormon.  This is in the section on obedience and makes us think of the Primary song .. "Follow the prophets .. they know the way."  So grateful for the church and the prophets who have led us through the years.  We know the following is true:

The Lord promised that if we “give heed” to the words of the prophet, “the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name’s glory” (D&C 21:4, 6). With prophets to guide us, we can be sure of God’s will concerning us. We can be assured that when we follow the counsel of living prophets, we can better navigate through the troubled times we live in.
